Ozunloye & ors v. The State
The fact of this case goes thus; the accused were arrested in December, 1973 and January, 1974, proceedings were initiated in 1976 and the trial proper (after an earlier false start) began in 1978 and lasted (on and off, mostly the latter) until conviction of the appellants in April, 1980. Bail had not been granted until 1978. Before the conclusion of the trial two accused had died, and at the trial 16 accused had been acquitted. (Delay of judgment resulted in miscarriage of justice.)
