Maurice Morey Vs Common Wealth

In this case, the pff (Plaintiff) was convicted of lewd and lascivious, then adultery with one Bridget Kennedy without being married to her and having his own lawful wife. He was indicted for the first offence and sent to 2 years imprisonment, then also found guilty on the second indictment, and sentenced thereon to confinement at hard labor in the house of correction for 3 years, this sentence was to take effect after the expiration of his previous sentence at this term of the court. The court held that a conviction or acquittal is no bar to a subsequent conviction and sentence upon another.
