
Godwin Anyawu v. The State
The appellant in this case who was charged with murder had the charge read over and explained to him in his own native language, the rest of the trial and judgment were completed in English. He was then sentenced to death. The court held that Section 33 (6) of the 1979 constitution wasn’t applicable as there was nothing to suggest that the appellant doesn’t understand English.
